Weft Hair Extension Course Details

Excited to join the Wonderful Wefts course at Kleek Academy Darlington? Your training will take just half a day, starting at 12:30 pm and finishing at 4:30 pm.

Before you arrive, we'll send you some pre-study theory to get you prepared. When you get here, we'll start with a quick overview of the theory element. Then, your tutor will take you through a live demonstration, followed by hands-on practice on a dolls head.

Once you've had a break, it's back to the practical training. Finally, we'll wrap up with an assessment where you'll confidently show off your skills in application and removal of all three hair extension methods.

During this course, you'll learn so much about weft hair extensions! Here's a rundown of all the modules you'll cover:

  • Hair extension knowledge and know-how: This part of the course will teach you everything you need to know about hair extensions, from the different types of extensions available to the pros and cons of each method.
  • How to carry out a consultation on your client: Consultations are super important when it comes to hair extensions. You'll learn how to talk to your client and find out exactly what they want, as well as how to advise them on the best method of application.
  • Contra-indications – the do’s and don’ts of hair extensions: We'll go through everything you need to know to make sure you're keeping your clients safe and avoiding any potential problems.
  • Making the correct colour match: Getting the right colour match is essential for a natural look. You'll learn how to pick the perfect shade and blend it seamlessly with your client's natural hair.
  • Correct sectioning and positioning of the hair extensions: This is key to making sure the extensions look and feel natural. You'll learn how to section the hair and position the extensions for maximum impact.
  • Application of Micro Weft Weave: You'll get hands-on experience with this popular hair extension method. By the end of the course, you'll feel confident applying hairt extesions using this method.

First things first - How will the practice work? We believe that hands-on practice is key to mastering your skills, so we provide you with a training head to complete the training on. 

Do you need a kit? Nope! We believe in making things easy for our students, so we provide a kit, worth upto £150, for you as part of the course cost. That way, you'll leave the training with the skills, knowledge, and tools to start providing professional-quality hair extensions straight away! 

Your kit will include a tail comb, pliers, loop ring, clips, beads/tapes, consultation sheets, and aftercare leaflet. Just remember to bring your own extensions, especially if you're bringing a model.

How will the assessment work? On your assessment day we encourage you to bring in a live model to show off your skills, if you can't bring one, don't worry - we've got you covered! We'll provide a model for you to work on during the assessment. You will be assessed on one of the three types of extensions and you will need to bring a portfolio of images or videos showing you applying and removing the extensions.

What about the qualification? We're glad you asked! You'll receive a fully accredited qualification through the Beauty Guild, which means you'll have everything you need to get the necessary insurance and start offering hair extensions to your salon clients.
