Delivered in-person at one of our fully equipped beauty therapy school at Kleek Academy Darlington, this course takes 30 weeks to complete.

Throughout the course, you will cover various units that delve into the principles and practices of nail treatment and salon management. The course includes the following units of training:

  • Provide Consultations – Learn about consulting with the client, recognising contra-indications, prepare for the service and produce a treatment plan.
  • Provide manicure treatments – Learn about filing and buffing the nails, using skin and cuticle treatments, massaging the hand and lower arm and using a suitable nail finish.
  • Provide pedicure treatments – Learn about filing the nails, applying skin and cuticle treatments, cleaning and drying the feet, removing excess hard skin, massaging the foot and lower leg, and providing a suitable nail finish
  • Apply and maintain nail enhancements – Learn about providing services to enhance and maintain nails on the hands and feet including repairing and removing nail enhancements.
  • Enhance nails using electric files – Learn about the safe and appropriate use of electric files during the processes of preparing and finishing overlay materials and professional preparation and maintenance of the electric file hand piece and attachments
  • Design and apply nail art – Learn how to create a nail art design using a range of nail art products and techniques include 3D embedding, colour blending, marbling, painting and alternative tip shapes.
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon– Understand H&S in the workplace carryout practical assessments to show your competence at a supervisory level.
  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries- Develop your ability to adapt the provision of client care and your communication skills, to the needs of different clients, as well as learn how to manage client expectations.
  • Maintaining personal health and wellbeing- Develop your knowledge and understanding of how to maintaining your own health and wellbeing.
  • Display stock to promote sales in a salon- Learn how to create an eye catching display using promotional materials, equipment and stock from your salon, learn how to promote your salon and increase sales of services and retail products.
  • Promote products and services to clients in a salon- Develop a sound knowledge of the products and services offered in your salon learning how to promote these products and services by providing accurate information, describing the benefits and features to your clients, being able to identify buying signals, secure an agreement and close a sale.

Assessment is a mixture of practical observations, online tests, assignments and workbooks.
